Location Location Location
Selecting a location for your photo session is a big choice! Sometimes, as the photographer, I am asked to select a location based on client preferences but sometimes my clients ask if I can come to them. When my clients ask me to come to them, I always get a thrill out of the unknown.
Inspiration from Client Relationships
The beauty of my trade is that I am inspired by such a wide variety of elements. One of my very favorite things to be inspired by is actually my clients. In my opinion, client relationships are essentially the life blood of any business. It is through good relationships that you get return customers.
Mixing Family Sessions with Milestones
One thing to know about me is that I get attached. Not in a creepy way but rather in regards to working with clients multiple times and in different stages of their lives. My clients hire me to take wonderful and memorable photos of your family (aka they are investing in me). Then, while working with them, I have the opportunity to get to know them and their family and we start to build a relationship (aka I become invested in them and attached to their stories)!
Forgoing What is Traditional for What Feels Right
Throughout the year, I have the opportunity to photograph individuals and families for a wide variety of occasions. During each session I try to go a little beyond the boundaries of what is expected and explore new and exciting ideas. This year for the holiday season, I decided to forgo traditional Christmas photos that consisted of bright red and green colors accompanied by snow or silent backgrounds for a style that felt right.
HALL FAMILY SESSION | PALO DURO CANYON | TEALA WARD PHOTOGRAPHY
Juliette contacted me to take photos of her lovely family this fall. Through prior communication with her and because I knew she had great style already, I wanted to take her to a new location I found in Palo Duro Canyon. I had never shot in this location before and Juliette and her family were wonderful as they let me explore with them and navigate this new space! I absolutely loved the way Juliettes red hair stood out in this location!
5 WAYS TO USE YOUR PHOTOS AFTER A PHOTO SHOOT
What is the hardest part about photo shoots? Is it planning, execution at the photo shoot (aka making everyone behave), or is it actually using those photos you looked forward to taking all year long? Well for a big handful of my clients, actually using their photos can be the most challenging. I know doing something with these photos involves more than saving the file or downloading the photos but I promise, it is worth it!
