Daddy and Me | Teala Ward Amarillo family Photographer

Early last year I did a mommy and me session for this family.  I was ecstatic that they then asked me to do a daddy and me session as well.  When planning for the session I asked what they wanted to capture, and what was meaningful to them.  If we add props, I always like to add things that lend themselves to part of a story.  In this case we used flowers that she could then take home to her mommy as a gift.  I also asked them to bring an accessory that was meaningful to them.  They chose to incorporate a ball cap.  I feel like using natural props,  or things that you would use in everyday life, help add to a session.

Instead of the prop being the focus, I look for natural reactions that occur as a result of the use of the prop.  I also tend to choose locations based on these same principals.  I want to get the most natural interactions possible.

If you have little ones I also like to use location to tell your story.  There are several places I recommend using for photographs in Amarillo.  Open spaces with room to run around work wonderfully.

My goal is for your session to be unposed and natural, with a focus on the connections between you and your people.  I think we achieved that here don't you?  Simply by choosing location and props that compliment instead of drawing focus we come away with an end result that is all about connection, love, and laughter.
